Hospice for Veterans

Veterans often come with a special set of needs, circumstances, and desires when they enter hospice. Our staff has the training and experience to meet veterans where they are and find peace through the hospice process. Our team knows the ins and outs of VA benefits & works to ensure those benefits work together with our services to provide the absolute best standard of care.

We are proud participants of the We Honor Veterans program.

This partnership between the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs works to recognize the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.

As part of the We Honor Veterans program, we conduct an annual veteran’s pinning ceremony. If you’d like to participate, contact us for more information.

Specialized veteran services

Navigating VA benefits

Our team boasts extensive knowledge of the VA benefits available to veterans, typically based on the patient’s branch of service and the time and location in which they served.

Veteran-specific conditions

We understand the physical and emotional issues that come from deployment and combat like PTSD, survivor’s guilt, anxiety, and moral conflict.

Resolution

From helping recover lost medals, contacting old service connections, and arranging for military services and burials at national cemeteries, we help veteran patients achieve the resolution and dignity they deserve.

Connections

Veterans understand veterans best. Not only do we work closely with other agencies serving veterans, but we work to pair our veteran patients with team members and care providers who also have a military background.

Education

We provide specific education for the family and medical teams of our veteran patients about their unique end-of-life needs.

Studies show that veterans are more likely to forgo curative treatments near the end of life. Over the past decade, the VA has made serious investments in palliative care that has increased hospice use by veterans. This suggests that hospice services are particularly suited to meet the needs of our veterans.
