For Volunteers

Hospice began as a grassroots, volunteer movement in the 1970’s. It wasn’t officially designated as a Medicare benefit until 1983. Today, volunteer services must equal 5% of the total patient care hours we provide, in keeping with its original spirit. This requirement helps ensure that hospice remains grounded in its community-based origins.

At In the Arms of Grace Hospice, we love our volunteer staff, and we make sure our volunteers are properly trained before placing them with our patients and families. We’re always looking for new, enthusiastic volunteers.
