15 Years of Compassionate Care

Fifteen years ago, In the Arms of Grace Hospice began with a simple conviction: the twilight of life should be filled with dignity, compassion, and grace. For us, this is more than just a mantra. It is the purpose that has guided our work from the very beginning. For our family, the need for this mission became clear through the loss of our own grandmother to dementia.

This mission has grown beyond what we could have imagined when we first began.

Nurses and hospice aides, chaplains and social workers, volunteers and administrative staff have all answered the call of hospice. From small acts of kindness to hard conversations, to the steady presence they provide day in and day out for our patients, they prove that every patient and family matters here.

Through our quality of care and above-and-beyond attitude, we’ve helped lead the way in this industry among much larger operations.

Last year, we earned deemed status from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with zero deficiencies — a flawless result on the rigorous assessment used to evaluate hospice organizations.
Members of our leadership team attended the inaugural Certified Leadership Program designed by the California Hospice and Palliative Care Association (CHAPCA). The certifications they earn distinguish them in our industry and signify our dedication to legal and ethical accountability.
We’ve shown up in the community in the wake of tragedy. Following the Palisades and Eaton Fires that took 31 lives and countless homes in Los Angeles county, we organized a community support group to help residents cope and move through their trauma and loss.

We couldn’t be more proud of the difference we’ve made in the lives of our patients and patient families.

So what does the next 15 years look like?

Hospice is a team sport. Hospice organizations are always learning from the latest research and best practices, as well as from one another. We welcome new regulations and standards that raise the bar, and we view them as the baseline for what any hospice must provide. Whatever new guidance takes shape, we’ll continue to go the extra mile for our families.

As a hospice, we look at growth and progress a little differently than most organizations. For us, “growth” means extending our programming and increasing our capacity to help more families without diminishing the quality of our services. Our team is constantly brainstorming new ways to enrich the hospice phase of life. Our Community Bereavement Support and Life Stories initiatives are just a few expressions of that dedication. We are also exploring music therapy and pet therapy as new methods of extending grace to our patients and bringing comfort in ways that words alone cannot.

Whatever the future holds, we will stay true to our ethos: offering care that is clinically sound, deeply human, and grounded in grace.

To our team and volunteers, as well as the families who entrust us with their loved ones, we say “Thank you.” We’re hopeful for all that still lies ahead.
