Volunteer Services

Not all of our patients’ needs fall into the medical or counseling realms. Simple human connection is a huge contributor to our patients’ quality of life. From helping out with caregiving to running errands for the family to simply being a friend, our volunteers go above and beyond to enrich the hospice experience for our families.

How our volunteers help

All of our volunteers are trained and vetted by our team before interacting with our patients and families. In fact, many of them volunteer after their own family member has gone through the hospice process.

Here are just a few ways they provide care:

Patient support

From reading to visiting, taking walks, and writing letters, volunteers create real relationships with patients and their families.

Respite support

Volunteers sometimes help out with shopping, pet care, and light housework, allowing family caregivers to run errands, exercise, or have some time to themselves.

Bereavement support

Our volunteers work closely with our bereavement professionals to help support group sessions and facilitate communication among family members.

Administrative support

Volunteers with clerical skills help us in the office by taking on some administrative duties such as preparing mailings, making calls to families, and taking on other tasks.

Unique support

Volunteers bring their unique skills and interests to bear in their work for us — from landscapers to notaries, from musicians to barbers and beauticians.

If any of the above support sounds like a good fit for you or your family, give us a call to talk about ways our volunteers can help.
